During the excavation of the on-site landfill cell – Cell 7. Large quantities of basalt rock and clay were excavated which are currently stockpiled on-site. These stockpiles are visible from Sunbury Road. The clay stockpile has been tested for a range of chemical contaminants. The reported contaminant levels in the soil samples were consistent with EPA Victoria Fill Material levels.

ARC has engaged a specialist civil engineering contractor to screen, crush and blend this material in order to prepare a range of products which are being used on construction processes throughout Victoria. ARC offers the following products to the civil construction industry:

•    Type A Fill 
•    Class 3 Crushed rock
•    Class 4 Crushed Rock

 

To date, ARC has supplied approximately 400,000 tonnes of material to the civil construction industry.

This material will also be used by ARC during the capping and rehabilitation of the closed landfill cells present at the site. This will reduce the volume of trucks entering and exiting the Site from Sunbury Road.
